Solly Mboweni is the Head of Housing Operations for International Housing Solutions (IHS), a position he has held since 2014. His responsibilities include new investments and asset management. Mr. Mboweni has 22 years of property and real estate experience, including property finance, valuations, asset management and property development. Mr. Mboweni has worked on real estate investment funds involved in the office, retail, industrial and hotel sectors, including funds managed by Old Mutual, FNB, Standard Bank, and Liberty Properties. Before joining IHS, Mr. Mboweni worked for ABSA Bank initially as its Head of CPF Structured Lending and later as a Principal in the Property Equity Division and Head of ABSA Devco Sustainable Integrated Developments, working closely with Provincial and Municipal Governments to increase the provision of housing opportunities. Mr. Mboweni is a graduate of the University of Witwatersrand, where he also holds a post grad degree.
Nikki Blane is Chief Financial Officer for International Housing Solutions (IHS), a position she has held since 2015. She is responsible for the finance and accounting operations of IHS. Ms. Blane has a broad range of accounting, fund accounting, and property experience and also has operated in the listed property environment in South Africa. Prior to joining IHS, Ms. Blane was the Finance Manager for Phatisa, a private equity fund manager operating in a number of sub-Saharan countries. Prior to that, she was a Portfolio Manager with Sasfin Bank and Pangbourne Properties Ltd. Ms. Blane is a graduate of the University of Witwatersrand.
Rob Wesselo is a Managing Director of International Housing Solutions (IHS), a position he has held since September 2010. He is responsible for sourcing investments, structuring and negotiating deals with developers and managing the operations of IHS in South Africa. Prior to joining IHS, he was the Head of Commercial Property Finance (Property Investments) at ABSA Business Bank. He has held other property-focused positions such as Commercial Director at Pangbourne Properties and Head of Listed Property Funding at Rand Merchant Bank. Mr. Wesselo holds an LLB from the University of Witwatersrand.
Soula Proxenos is a Managing Director of International Housing Solutions (IHS), a position she has held since 2006. Her current responsibilities include business development and investor relations. Ms. Proxenos has more than 27 years of financial services experience. She has run business units, managed international marketing and sales teams, developed strategic alliances, and opened new markets for the international divisions of South African and European financial services companies. She currently serves on the Investment Committee of International Housing Solutions. Ms. Proxenos serves on the board of Tahirih Justice Center and her expertise is in access for the poor to financial products. She holds an M.B.A. from the University of Stellenbosch.
Cathal Conaty is a Managing Director of International Housing Solutions (IHS), a position he has held since 2005. His current responsibilities include portfolio management and investor relations and he is chairman of the IHS Investment Committee, which approves and manages all IHS investments. Mr. Conaty brings extensive experience in residential property investment, spanning portfolio management, deal structuring and negotiation, financial engineering and the management of major renovation projects. In various positions over the past fifteen years, he has set up and managed private investment funds, served as a Regional Vice President of property management specializing in the turnaround of troubled properties, and represented investors’ interests in a variety of market-rate and subsidized properties. Mr. Conaty is a graduate of the University College Dublin, Ireland, and holds an M.B.A. from IESE, Barcelona, Spain.
Jeff Muller is Senior Vice President of MMA Capital Management, a position he has held since 2003, and a Managing Director of IHS since 2010. His current responsibilities include strategic planning, human resources, information technology and administration and he serves as the Chair of the Company’s Capital Investment Committee. He previously served as Treasurer and was responsible for credit and risk management for the company’s affordable housing, renewable energy and sustainable land business lines. Before joining MMA Capital Management in 2001, Mr. Muller worked for The World Bank Group, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, and was a Peace Corps Volunteer. Mr. Muller is a graduate of Colgate University and holds a Ph.D. from Stanford University and an M.A. from Johns Hopkins University.
Megan Targarona Sophocles is Senior Vice President of MMA Capital Management, a position she has held since 2015. Ms. Sophocles holds a leadership role within our US operations and is responsible for the management of the Leveraged Bond and LIHTC portfolios, capital planning, financial structuring and transaction execution. Ms. Sophocles also supports the Company’s strategic initiatives, serves as Treasurer and is the Vice Chair of the Company’s Capital Investment Committee. Ms. Sophocles joined MMA Capital in 2005 and is a graduate of St. Mary’s College of Maryland.
Bob Hopper is the Managing Director for MMA Energy Capital, MMA Capital Management’s renewable energy finance group, a position he has held since 2014. Mr. Hopper is responsible for strategy, business development and serves on the investment committee. Mr. Hopper has over 25 years of experience in the energy industry and was the founder and President of ClearPeak Advisors, Inc., which was acquired by Enfinity America Corporation in 2010, which in turn was acquired by SunEdison. Mr. Hopper has extensive experience in energy investment and energy business planning; he served as Senior Vice President, Business Development at MMA Renewable Ventures and prior to joining Renewable Ventures he provided the leadership to Siemens’ Energy and Environmental Solutions business in the Western region. He also founded the energy services company IEC, Inc., which negotiated more than $150 million in energy supply and services contracts and was acquired by NV Energy in 1998. Mr. Hopper is a graduate of St Bonaventure University.
Dave Bjarnason is Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of MMA Capital Management, a position he has held since 2015. Mr. Bjarnason joined the Company from Fannie Mae, where he was a finance officer and served in senior management roles in Fannie Mae’s accounting policy, external reporting and financial planning and analysis functions. Prior to joining Fannie Mae, Mr. Bjarnason served in senior finance, consulting and financial statement audit roles with JPMorgan Chase & Co., CapitalSource, Inc., Freddie Mac, Deloitte LLP and KPMG LLP. Mr. Bjarnason is a graduate of the College of William & Mary and is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant.
Gary Mentesana is Executive Vice President of MMA Capital Management, a position he has held since 2003. He is the head of our US operations and is responsible for the day-to-day capital activities of the Company. Mr. Mentesana previously served as head of the Company’s Affordable Housing Group, where he was responsible for the affordable tax-exempt and taxable lending and equity businesses, and as Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Mentesana’s tenure with MMA Capital Management began in 1988 with the Company’s predecessor, the SCA Tax-Exempt Fund Limited Partnership. Prior to joining MMA Capital Management, he worked for Coopers and Lybrand and was a Certified Public Accountant. Mr. Mentesana is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island.
